Ez-ily the best smart doorbell we’ve tested this year

I can’t believe it’s only been a couple of days since the last newsletter; how time flies when you’re testing tech and attending industry events. You’ll have to wait until next week to find out what Jon Bray and I have been up to over the past few days, but it’s exciting stuff. I’m such a tease.

To quench your review thirst, I’ve got a fantastic five. Not all of them received fantastic reviews, though. In fact, the quintet includes a couple of products our experts advise you to avoid. The Philips Baristina and Asus Zenbook 14 got lukewarm receptions, while the Motorola Razr Fold fared better but wasn’t quite the foldable debut Ben Johnston had hoped.

If, however, you’re after a super-smart doorbell or user-friendly 1080p projector, you’re in luck. The Ezviz EP8 Ultra shot straight to the top of Alun Taylor’s smart doorbell affections, with Stuart Andrews smitten about the ease of setup and performance of XGIMI’s Elfin Flip Laser projector.

I’ve also got three tasty deals for you today: one on Microsoft’s Surface Pro 2-in-1, another on the new Pixel 11 Pro, and the third on the Huawei Watch GT 7 Pro.

Enjoy your weekend. Next week you’ll be back in Will’s capable hands, assuming he’s taken it easy on the vino and makes it back across the Channel in one piece.

Tech Reviews

Two batteries make this dual-camera doorbell a winner

Alun Taylor is a hard man to please when it comes to video doorbells, but the Ezviz EP8 Ultra wowed him with its picture performance, generous storage and bundled accessories.

A decent debut, but this foldable needs refinement

Motorola has entered the foldable phone race and keeps up with the competition with nippy performance and top-notch battery life, though there are some wrinkles, writes Ben Johnston.

Asus’ new Zenbook is a case of what might have been…

So writes Jon Bray, who said it “was better than the MacBook Neo” in some ways, but ultimately overpriced given its disappointing battery life and mediocre keyboard and touchpad.
