Get prepped for school, college or uni
I've got something uncharacteristically sensible for you this week – our pick of the best laptops for students. With September rapidly approaching, now is a very good time to think about gearing up (either yourself or your child) for the new term.
As it happens, we're rather good at laptops. We've tested around 15 this year alone, covering all budgets and use cases, so believe me when I say that our recommendations are worth a look. If a laptop doesn't pass our benchmarks or stand up to the scrutiny of our industry veterans, it won't earn a place on our roundup.
Elsewhere this week, our resident male grooming expert Leon Poultney has wrapped up his group test of electric shavers. Featured today is the Panasonic Series 900+, a mightily expensive and mightily impressive shaver that gave Leon the closest trim he's ever experienced.
In tech, we tested Insta360's new Go Ultra, a wearable camera with an AI assistant; and the Hisense UR9S, a firm step into the world of premium RGB LED TVs for the Chinese brand. Meanwhile, our Deputy Editor Andy White got his hands and ears on two pairs of noise-reducing earplugs from Audio-Technica – if you still enjoy the odd daytime rave, give them a look.

The wearable camera with AI up its sleeve
As you'd expect, the Insta360 Go Ultra covers the traditional features of an action camera well: good audio and video, compact design and low weight. But are the new AI features worth their salt, or is this just more LLM-generated slop? Head of Reviews Jonathan Bray finds out.

Hisense finds its feet in the premium TV space
The UR9S represents the most premium example of Hisense’s RGB LED technology. With extraordinarily good Dolby Vision 2 implementation and impressive audio, the UR9S is a solid high-end set – but some niggling HDR10 issues hold it back from a recommendation

Audio-Technica earplugs, head-to-head
As a lover of loud music and irrationally big speaker systems, our TV & AV expert Andy White jumped at the chance to try out two pairs of Audio-Technica noise-reducing earplugs. Here's how they shape up; who they're for; and ultimately, if you should buy them.

The closest shave we've ever seen
The Panasonic Series 900+ has a six-blade head that delivers an exceptionally close and comfortable shave, even through longer stubble. But it's big and bulky, and the price tag is pretty hard to swallow, writes our tester Leon Poultney.
