One ring to rule them all?

I’ve been left holding the baby while Mr Georgiadis takes a well-earned break, and although things have been pretty quiet post-Apple event, I’ve got some cracking reviews to bring you.

Staffer-turned-freelancer Sarah Matthews cast her expert eye over the smart ring everyone is talking about, the Oura Ring 5. She wasn’t fond of the price and paid-for subscription model, but the design, battery life, tracking and insights won her over. Another wearable - the Huawei Watch GT Pro 7 - got two thumbs up from fitness fanatic Jon Bray after it spent a couple of weeks wrapped around his wrist. If you want a luxurious ecosystem-agnostic smartwatch, it’s his new number-one recommendation.

Elsewhere, TV doyen John Archer heaped praise on the LG G6 OLED, describing it as “another OLED masterclass”. So, why didn’t it receive a Best Buy award? You’ll have to read his in-depth review to find out!

I’ve done a bit of writing, too, now that the dust has settled on Gamescom. One of the most interesting pieces of news from Cologne was gaming giant Side partnering with Modl.ai to pioneer a new AI-assisted method of video game QA. I also got hands-on with legendary audio brand Beyerdynamic’s new MMX 100 and MMX 130 gaming headsets and came away rather impressed.
