Which TV brands are worth your time and money?

It’s my pleasure to introduce the Expert Reviews TV Brand Awards 2026. This year marks a definite shift in preferences: our respondents – over 1,000 UK homeowners like you – came down in favour of the well-reputed value brands over the big dogs such as LG and Samsung in almost every category.

This makes for a unique and thoroughly intriguing set of results. Hisense picks up the win overall, with a notably high number of customers indicating that they’d recommend the brand to friends or family. Sony, Philips and TCL also scored highly, while the aforementioned big dogs were practically nowhere to be seen.

The message is a clear one: the status quo is changing, and so are our shopping habits. It’s fair to guess that the spiralling cost of… everything might have something to do with it.

In our reviews section this week, we’re sidestepping from TV to AV, where I’ve got a trio of excellent audio products for you. Bose’s new QuietComfort Headphones earned our recommendation by being nearly as good as their high-end Ultra siblings, while Majority’s Bowfell Halo soundbar/surround sound combo impressed by offering sensational value for money (seriously – it’s under £200).

And finally, our Head of Reviews Jonathan Bray has spent the week with Sonos’ gorgeous new Ace Ultra headphones, and has become very fond of them indeed.

There’s more besides, but I’ll stop waffling so you can start scrolling. And yes, I had a lovely holiday, thanks for asking!

We independently review everything we recommend. When you purchase through our links, we may earn a commission.

Sonos Ace Ultra headphones: A beautiful, superior successor to the Ace

They might look the same, but under the hood the Ace Ultra headphones are a marked audio improvement on their predecessors
